Meaning

Salutations to Lord Shiva. The five sacred syllables — Na, Ma, Shi, Va, Ya — are associated with the five elements, and their repetition steadies the mind in remembrance of the auspicious one.

How to Recite

Can be chanted at any time, silently or aloud. Many devotees keep a daily japa of 108 repetitions with a rudraksha mala.
