Bhagavad Gita Shlokas

SHLOKA

Timeless wisdom from the Gita — Shri Krishna’s teaching to Arjuna on the field of Kurukshetra.

Karma Yoga — 2.47

Karmanye-Vadhikaraste Ma Phaleshu Kadachana,
Ma Karma-Phala-Hetur Bhur Ma Te Sango’stv Akarmani.

Meaning: Your right is to your action alone, never to its fruits. Let not the fruit of action be your motive, nor let attachment to inaction take hold of you.

The Lord’s Promise — 4.7

Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya Glanir Bhavati Bharata,
Abhyutthanam Adharmasya Tadatmanam Srijamy Aham.

Meaning: Whenever dharma declines and adharma rises, O Bharata, I manifest myself.

The Lord’s Promise — 4.8

Paritranaya Sadhunam Vinashaya Cha Dushkritam,
Dharma-Samsthapanarthaya Sambhavami Yuge Yuge.

Meaning: To protect the righteous, to destroy the wicked, and to firmly establish dharma, I appear age after age.

Steadiness of Mind — 2.48

Yogasthah Kuru Karmani Sangam Tyaktva Dhananjaya,
Siddhy-Asiddhyoh Samo Bhutva Samatvam Yoga Uchyate.

Meaning: Established in yoga, perform your actions, O Dhananjaya, abandoning attachment — even-minded in success and failure. That evenness of mind is called yoga.
